BIO

As a visual artist I bring together practice and reflection, using installations, essays, workshops and collaborative projects to question how art might create space for shared experience and ethical thought. Alongside my practice I teach at St. Joost School of Art & Design and conduct research at the Centre of Applied Research for Art, Design and Technology (CARADT), and I work collectively as part of YAFF.

Artist Statement

My practice grows from a long-term interest in how people live together. I work between visual art, writing, research and education, with attention to the moral reflexes that shape everyday life. These reflexes appear in public space, in institutions, in domestic surroundings and in small social gestures. Doubt has become a method in my work. I use it to stay close to situations in which judgement, care and responsibility are unstable. I am interested in how a person’s position is never entirely their own, but formed through the conditions tt shape everyday life. Through form and material, I bring research back into the work. Everyday surroundings can become a way to look at the structures underneath social life. My work traces how values settle into the places and objects around us, and how fragile the idea of living together can be.
